comScore reports that in July 2007, Google sites ranked as the top core search engine with 55.2 percent share of searches among the top five search engines. Yahoo! ranked second with 23.5 percent, followed by MSN/Live Search (12.3 percent), Ask.com (4.7 percent) and Time Warner Network (4.4 percent). (“Google sites” includes other sites that serve up Google results, such as AOL and Netscape)

Search Engine Popularity Results
For those who follow such things, it’s catch up time on search engine popularity stats. comScore and NetRatings put out October 2006 figures this week, and Hitwise released its own figures earlier this month.
Google’s still tops, Yahoo’s still strong, MSN is still dropping and Ask beats out AOL’s search share, according to comScore. Search Engine Watch displays trend from all of them over the past year, plus other comparison information and analysis.
Google Handles Half of all Searches
New statistics out from Nielsen NetRatings (the same folks who do the famous Nielson TV ratings) show Google now handles half the web searches in the United States. Yahoo has 22%, MSN 11%. Everyone else is splitting up the last 7.
August Market Share Figures
Search engine market shares for August 2005: Google – 45.9%, Yahoo! – 23.2%, MSN – 11% by ZDNet‘s ZDNet Research — The total number of online searches in August 2005 topped 5 billion, with the leading three Web portals accounting for 80% of them, Nielsen//NetRatings said. Google was #1 with 45.9% of all searches, followed by Yahoo with 23.2%; and MSN with 11%. MSN lost market share from July 2005, when it had 12.2%. Google and Yahoo gained 1.2% and 1.4%, respectively. The average Web searcher conducted nearly 42 searches, a 7% increase from the previous month.
