Is Flash Dying?
Apple vs Adobe – A few weeks ago, Apple’s CEO Steve Jobs refuted Adobe’s repeated contention that Apple’s mobile products don’t offer access to “the full web”. Adobe’s position is that by not supporting Flash, the iPhone, iPod and iPad, Apple’s mobile products, fail to provide full access to the web. Adobe contends that 75% of the video on the web is in Flash.
“What they don’t say,” Jobs wrote, “is that almost all this video is also available in a more modern format, H.264” — which iPads and iPhones do support.
While “almost all” is a bit of an exaggeration, a chart from TechCrunch suggest that Apple’s right about at least the trend.
